We may or may not have been a bit optimistic heading to the south coast on a day like this.
We lasted a few minutes…the notorious Wellington wind was at it’s gale force finest.
I will post more from this day I’m sure…cos it was just plain lovely.
This is my sister, Anna.
Or Spanny. Or Anzie. Or Annabanana. Or Spanz. Actually pretty much anything goes and she’s cool with it.
She’s one of those girls you just wanna hang out with. Not in that ‘throw your knickers in the air and dance on the tabletops’ kind of way…but more in that quietly take the piss out of yourself (and life) kind of way.
I feel pretty lucky to have her as my sister. And best friend.
Her and her equally cool husband Dan, have set up a Sanctuary in Christchurch where they teach yoga, give acupuncture and generally just spread the love. They had a wee daughter about a year ago, Ruby (Rhubarb). Also cool.
Spanzie, I miss you!
Bec used to help me when I first started out shooting weddings eight or nine years ago. She put together albums and did tons of other stuff. Back in the day when I did actually stick pictures into albums. You know, with glue and stickers…old school styles. Albums have changed so much since then.
She’s a great photographer.
Actually she’s great, full stop.
This was a very cool wedding. For many reasons.
I think the main one was the attitude these guys had. They were what I would call Totally. Easy. Going.
Even when things didn’t always go to plan. I’m pretty sure that when you treat your day like that, then it has potential to turn out even better than you could have imagined.
Plus they gave me freedom to photograph things as I saw them unfold. No long lists. I love it when people trust me enough to let me shoot this way.
And that dress with the back? That extraordinary dress was made by Jane Yeh.
Thanks so much for having me along Guyon & Emma, completely loved it.
Shot at Springfield a couple of weeks ago…what a day. Loved it. Loved these guys…and the dancing went mental.
My favorite kind of gig to photograph.
Steph and Robin from Bubblerock studios were also there to capture the video…you can see their lovely wee preview of it here.
Oh and if you’re wondering ‘who did that hair and make-up?’ It was Ange from Hil Cook…she’s really gooood huh?
Annaliesa and Matias got married in Auckland. Lovely peeps, lovely day.

One of the RARE sunny summer days here in Wellington. I know talking about the weather is super lame, but come on, this summer is having a laugh.
