Golden bay Wedding

Emma Espiner's Dad

Emma Wehipeihana and Guyon Espiner got married.

At The Penguin Cafe in Pohara, Golden Bay. It was brilliant.

My words won’t do it justice so hopefully you can get the gist from the visuals….colour and summer and yeah…thanks for having me along to tell the story…loved it.

Golden Bay Goodness

Car in Golden Bay

I have neglected this little blog of late…life has been full. But I will post more from this wonderful day in Golden Bay very soon.

Like tomorrow. Or the next day. Or the next day. Or tomorrow.

Road Trip

Cape Reinga

I went on a wee road trip for four days at New Years….Kaitaia to Auckland with some really old friends.

It was bliss, despite the whole raining non-stop summer thing. Camping, drinking, eating good food, hanging out.

These are little i-phone pictures from Cape Reinga. Shot on the iPhone with the app ‘ShakeItPhoto’.

It’s a pretty cool wee app, sure beats carrying the monster DSLR around.

Melody’s sister made all the outfits at this wedding. Well not all of them but almost…the brides dress, all the bridesmaids dresses, the groom’s suit, her grandmother’s outfit…I’m sure there were more…to say I was impressed is a bit of an understatement.

The reception was at Tirohana Estate. They sure know how to look after their guests.

And the awesome Dara Wakely was on hair and make-up.

Lovely day, lovely people.

Black & White photographs of wellington

I just had a very quick play with my friend Dion’s new FujiX100. I like it. A lot.

This is unusual as I am no gear head. Of course to do my job I need good professional gear…but anyone can buy that gear.

I reckon what really counts is how you see. And how you feel what you see.

One of my favourite photographers is magnum photographer Elliot Erwitt. I love his pictures. They tell such a story. He once said “All the technique in the world doesn’t compensate for the inability to notice”. I love the way he notices.

It’s all about the moment and the light.
